JOHN + ELIZABETH

Elizabeth and John were supposed to get married on Saturday, May 16th, 2020 in Charleston, South Carolina. Due to all of the covid-19 chaos, they were forced to postpone their wedding day. After lots of wedding re-planning, they decided to book an Airbnb in the beautiful Sonoma, California to get away and celebrate what was supposed to be their wedding weekend.

When they reached out asking if I’d be willing to do a photoshoot with them at their Airbnb on their wedding date, I couldn’t say yes fast enough. My heart hurts for all of the couples postponing their weddings and I was so honored to get to help make what was supposed to be their wedding weekend a little more special. Don’t worry guys, calm down – social distancing practices were involved, of course. Don’t get your panties in a bunch.

First of all, this was the cutest little Airbnb EVER. Just when I pulled into the driveway and before I had even met them, I was getting excited with so many photo ideas. Mind you, I also hadn’t done a photoshoot in over two months so the excitement was extra real haha.

When I got there, I started off with all of their wedding details like I would on a typical wedding day so they could have photos of all of their save the dates and wedding invitations for their original wedding date. And if you know me, you know I'm ALL about those beautiful lay flat photos. While John was watching me take detail photos, Elizabeth ran inside and surprised him with the gift that she was going to have him open the morning of their wedding (so freaking sweet, right???)

We roamed around the Airbnb taking photos and it was sooo beautiful and so much fun! The Airbnb host even came out to open the pool for us and it made for some stunning photos against the perfectly cloudy sky (seriously, the sky was PERFECT that morning).

After taking TONS of photos and not wanting to stop because everything was so pretty and we were having so much fun, I had Elizabeth and John pop some champagne and then do a little cake cutting with a cake that one of their friends was sweet enough to gift them.

They did an amazing job of holding the emotions together up until this point.. We got a speaker and I told them to turn on the song that they were going to have play for their first dance and that’s when the tears started. They cried, laughed, danced and it was the perfect end to the photoshoot. I has so much fun with these two and I’m so glad they were able to get everything rescheduled to get married and celebrate with their friends and family at their same venue in Charleston this November. These two deserve the best party ever and when it finally comes, it’ll be well worth the wait :)

John and Elizabeth enjoyed the rest of the weekend soaking up some California sun, sipping on some Scribe wines and simply enjoying each other's company. Check out Elizabeth's blog post to read more about their wedding weekend getaway here!
